Library

 

The Elk Grove Village Library is a modern facility, annually adding over 15,000 books and materials to its current inventory of 171,000 books and over 13,000 video and audio recordings. The Library is one of the top 5 Illinois libraries as of per capita use, and its services rank in the top one percent. Other library resources include special displays, children's activities, over 300 subscriptions to various periodicals, video cassettes, and records. The Library also has computerized access to 30 other libraries in the area.

 

The Elk Grove Village Library is a member of the NorthStarNet Community Wide Information Service. NorthStartNet is operated by libraries of the North Suburban Library System (NSLS) and was designed to provide community information of interest to residents in north suburban Cook, Lake, McHenry and eastern Kane counties in Illinois. Parks and Recreation

 

The Elk Grove Park District maintains approximately 473 acres, including 43 parks, 3 Olympic-size swimming pools, and 11 public tennis courts. Its outstanding feature is the Pirate's Cove Theme Park built for the enjoyment of children 10 years and younger. The Park District also operates a Senior Citizen Center; Fitness Center; 18-hole golf course with driving range; and the Rainbow Falls Wet & Wild Pool and miniature golf recreational center.

 

Nearby Ned Brown Woods is a 10 square mile Cook County Forest Preserve featuring boating and fishing. It also features an 11 mile scenic bicycle path winding through the entire wooded area.
