Education
Streamwood enjoys a wide range of quality educational opportunities for its residents. Most students living in Streamwood are served by School District U-46, the second largest school district in the State of Illinois.
District U-46 serves over 38,000 students, from kindergarten through high school. The district covers a 90 square mile geographic area which includes, in addition to Streamwood, the communities of Bartlett, Elgin, Hanover park, South Elgin and Wayne; as well as portions of Carol Stream, St. Charles, Schaumburg and West Chicago. Within the village limits of Streamwood are numerous elementary schools, two middle schools and one high school.
The District U-46 curriculum is continually reviewed and kept up-to-date to meet the needs and interests of today’s students. District teachers improve their teaching skills and learn about new instructional concepts through periodic training and in-service programs.

Note: While the majority of Streamwood is located within School District U-46, areas of the community located east of Barrington Road are served by Elementary School District 54 and High School District 211.
Elgin Community College
Elgin Community College is part of the Illinois Community College system. It was founded in 1949. It serves 22 in-district communities, along with portions of ten other communities, from Algonquin on the north to St. Charles on the south, from Burlington on the west to Streamwood, Hanover Park and Bartlett on the east.
ECC features cooperative programs with other universities and colleges. Dual-admission, bachelor-degree-completion programs on campus, fully articulated programs, and on-line bachelor degrees are available. ECC also offers unique educational opportunities here in Streamwood. Opened in 1998, ECC-Streamwood Center is located in Village Hall. Classrooms include lecture hall and computer resource center and offer credit and non-credit classes.

Streamwood Park District
The Streamwood Park District is a separate municipal governing agency established for the purpose of providing park facilities and leisure programs for residents. The Park District is responsible for the maintenance, operation and administration of parks and park facilities. The Park District presently owns and maintains over 230 acres of land at 34 locations. Major facilities include the Community Center, Park Place Family Recreation Center, the Hoosier Grove Barn Banquet Facility, the Schoolhouse Museum, and one outdoor swimming pool. More than 350 recreation programs are offered each year to individuals of all ages, interest and abilities. Seasonal brochures describing these opportunities are mailed directly to all residents of Streamwood. Brochures, as well as additional program and special event flyers, are available at the Administrative Office and at the major facilities.
The Streamwood Park District Administrative Office located at 777 South Bartlett Road, in Streamwood. Regular office hours are Monday through Friday, 8:30 am to 4:30 pm, and Saturday, 9:00 am to 12:00 pm. In addition to regular hours the registration office is open Tuesday and Thursday evenings until 8:00 pm. The Streamwood Community Center is also located at 777 South Bartlett Road. The Park Place Family Recreation Center is located at 550 South Park Boulevard.
